Animal rescue

Wetheriggs Animal Rescue was set up in 2006 and strives to give sick and injured animals another chance at life. Many of the animals within the centre are in a state of rehabilitation and visitors to the centre are sometimes shocked by some of the animals’ appearances.

We achieved charity status (Registered Charity no. 1131536) in September 2009.

Animals that have been taken in over the years include runner ducks, donkeys, hares and horses, along with more exotic animals such as snakes, skinks and tortoises.

Our animals are usually pets that either can no longer be looked after by their current owners or have been swapped for animals in other rescue centre when wanting to specialise in a particular type of animals such as reptiles or birds.

We also have a range of rescued wild animals, including hedgehogs, ducks and geese. These may be injured wild animals or animals that are at risk of being put to sleep if not rehomed.
